Colette Wolff: Fiber & Textile Artist
Colette Wolff (d. 2020) was one of America’s foremost fiber and textile artists — a self-described “stitcher” whose six-decade career encompassed soft sculpture, cloth dollmaking, quilting, embroidery, garment making, and fabric manipulation. She is best known as the author of The Art of Manipulating Fabric (1996), the comprehensive encyclopedia of three-dimensional fabric manipulation techniques used by fiber artists, quilters, and garment sewers worldwide. Through her mail-order pattern company, Platypus Designs (founded 1969), she introduced generations of sewists to precision-crafted doll, toy, and quilt patterns. This site is her official archive, maintained by her estate.
